WHEN YEAR 7 FEELS HARDER THAN IT SHOULD
Small gaps can make
new topics feel harder.
Year 7 brings more independent work and new ways of thinking. A shaky understanding of fractions, negative numbers or times tables can make an unfamiliar question feel much bigger than it is.
Your child may understand a worked example, struggle to explain the method, or stop when the question is worded differently. We find where the difficulty starts, explain it in a way they can follow, then give them a chance to try it for themselves.

MEET YOUR CHILD’S TUTOR
Hi, I’m Abdullah.
The person you speak to on the call is the person who teaches your child.
I’m Abdullah Akbar, an independent personal Maths tutor. I am not a qualified classroom teacher. I was educated at Eton College and I’m studying Physics at the University of Manchester.
I teach each pupil myself. That lets me notice the recurring sticking points, adapt the next lesson and give you a useful picture of their progress.
Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons and receive a monthly written update, so you can see what is being practised and what comes next.
I’m keeping this programme to six weekly pupils so that the teaching, preparation and feedback stay personal.

Is this right for my child?
The programme is for Year 7 pupils following a British curriculum in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE. It suits children who need stronger foundations, clearer explanations or more confidence working independently. We use the parent consultation to check the fit before asking you to enrol.
Who teaches the lessons?
Abdullah Akbar teaches every lesson personally. He is an independent personal Maths tutor, educated at Eton College and studying Physics at the University of Manchester. He is not a qualified classroom teacher. There is no handover to a different tutor after the consultation.
What happens in the first lesson?
The first paid 60-minute lesson includes an assessment of the relevant foundations and your child’s approach to questions. It is part of the monthly programme, with no separate assessment fee. You receive a short summary of the priorities we will work on.
When and where do lessons happen?
Lessons are online, once a week at an agreed weekend time. We agree the time in UAE local time and confirm it before payment. Your child needs a reliable connection, a suitable device, paper and a quiet place to work. Tuition is delivered from the UK.
What does AED 1,800 per month include?
One 60-minute lesson each week, the initial assessment and personal plan, targeted practice with feedback, one written parent update each month and brief scheduled support between lessons. The monthly fee stays the same when your agreed day falls five times in a monthly period, so the fifth lesson is included. There is no joining fee.
Am I signing up for a long contract?
No. You pay monthly upfront and can stop by telling us before the next monthly period begins. We review progress together after the first month so you can make an informed decision about continuing.
Can a lesson be moved?
With at least 24 hours’ notice, we offer a replacement within the same monthly period where a suitable slot is available. If no suitable slot can be agreed, the missed lesson is credited to the next month, or refunded proportionately if you are not continuing. With less notice, the monthly fee is unchanged. If Abdullah cancels and no replacement can be agreed, the missed lesson is refunded proportionately.
Can we ask questions between lessons?
Yes. Send a brief question about the assigned work through the agreed parent communication channel. Abdullah reviews these in scheduled support time; it is not an on-demand teaching service. We agree expectations on the consultation.
How do you keep parents involved?
Parents receive the starting priorities and a monthly update on what has been covered, what is becoming secure and what comes next. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons. Abdullah holds a DBS certificate, available to view on request.
Is the parent consultation really free?
Yes. The 15-minute call is a conversation about your child’s needs, the programme, the price and availability. There is no obligation to enrol. The teaching assessment takes place in the first paid lesson.
